About this Blog

I fell in love with fabric! I just love the look, feel and smell of it! ♥

Kayleigh's Quilt
My 1st project was a quilt I made for my baby girl.  I saw the pattern in a local magazine and could not wait to start.

With only a sewing machine and no supplies I felt lost and frustrated, I had no idea what I was doing.  The pattern specified jelly rolls and layer cakes.  Items I have never even heard off.

Thank goodness for the internet, there were terms like UFO's and fat quarters that was very confusing for me, but now that I've gained a lot more knowledge I don't feel as intimidated as the first time I walked into a fabric store...

Oh and I had fun shopping for fabric and notions, I still do...

I am learning new techniques every day, I fell in love with quilting.

My biggest inspiration is my mother.  She's good at everything she does, -sewing, knitting, crochet and cooking, no matter what she makes its always a success and beautiful.  She's a gentle soul with lots of patience, over flowing with love and I enjoy sharing what I make with her.  Even though she lives over a 1000km away she is always the 1st person to see what I've made, I send her pictures every day.

I hope you enjoy visiting my blog, I love sharing my experiences and I would like to hear from you, any comments are welcome, so please link up ideas and share your thoughts with me.

Happy quilting

Marelize, well, you hav definitely been bitten by the quilting bug, haven't you? You remind me very much of myself. I, too, taught myself from thhe interest, at least in the early days. You are creating fabulous quilts!

Thanks Mary, at times I sit and wonder, 'what did I do before I started', and nothing comes to mind ;-)

I'm trying to start express your love ... i feel so intimidated. Dont know where to cut or how much to leave around the edges. Started a queen size bedspread last year and that was my first quilt. Yet to finish because again I'm intimated to cut the long 5' borders. Surely my cuts wont be straight?}{:">?"{ I love it though. So I was hoping Leah's would be an easier go.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated Your Color choices are great and the change of hair brings more strength to this goddess!!! So glad to find your blog. Tina.... solargirl24@gmail

Hi Tina, one thing that I've learnt, is that in the end, it is JUST fabric, and that mistakes can be fixed. I too was very intimidated learning so many techniques especially free motion quilting, but in the end I am so glad to have put my fears aside and just 'go with it'. Without practice you wont learn what you feel most comfortable with. I am self taught, or rather what I've learnt is all from the internet, so I had no one over my shoulder guiding me or telling me what to do next. There are wonderful bloggers out there, with ideas and knowledge sharing them for free. Remember, measure twice-cut one... I hope you will come round to my blog again soon.
